I have an STX Surgeon. What kind if mesh do u suggest for this head, and where should I put the pocket? I have mini mesh on there now, and am having trouble keeping it throwing normally and not whipping to the ground. Where do you suggest I put the shooters on mini mesh?

First, thanks for the questions. This is a questions a lot of stringers have. What type of mesh you should use really depends on your style of play. There is no right or wrong answer. It is a personal decision. For most players hard mesh will give them the best all around performance. It has been my experience that mini mesh does tend to develop whip, especially since mini mesh is uncoated. Mini mesh will bag out far easier than 10 diamond hard mesh.
When stringing shooting laces I stick to two patterns. On most of the sticks I string I find two straight shooters and one “V” or “U” to work best. On soft mesh (including mini mesh) I find three straight shooting laces to work best. Using a “V” or “U” on soft mesh can add unwanted whip.
Pocket placement depends on the type of player you are. If you are a ball carrier and do more ball carrying than shooting a lower pocket will work best. The low pocket will help the ball stay in the pocket if you take a check. If you are a shooter you may find that a mid pocket feels better and adds some control to your pocket. Most all around players also choose to play with a mid pocket. I am not a fan of high pockets. With a high pocket you lose a lot of your ability to easily cradle and protect the ball.
If you have not played with hard mesh recently I recommend you give it a shot. You will get the best performance and control out of white hard mesh. Add your own style with a few colored laces and a sharp accent of colored sidewall.

i suggest 10 diamond as it is good mesh for any head of any brand,, 6 diamond is also good for any head, for u it seems u might want a low pocket as they normally do not have a lot of whip, although i personally prefer high pockets because it holds a lot better.
